Nigeria needs about $900bn to properly address its energy sector in the next 30 years, President Goodluck Jonathan has said.
Jonathan this on Monday at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa during the Nigeria Power Financing Conference.
According to the president, a high percentage of the fund would have to come from the private sector.
Jonathan was represented at the conference which has “Private Sector Financing/Support for the Power Sector and Infrastructure” as its theme, by Vice President Namadi Sambo.
The president noted that $10 billion was needed for generation and distribution to add 5,000 megawatts to the national grid.
