After her VMAs performance and the overall freakshow that accompanied it, including the back-and-forth exchange of open letters between her and Sinead O'Connor. Miley Cyrus has found herself in headlines overtaking the likes of Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Bynes in the steadily growing list of kid stars who have gone off those oft-discussed rails. However, Miley appears to be a more functional lunatic than her predecessors, foam-finger humping aside. She knows exactly what she's doing, and she's fucking with the lot of us – and gathering the endless headlines in the process. What? She has a new album out? You don't say…
Oh, and let's not forget that marijuana is perfectly legal in Amsterdam, so she wasn't rugby-tackled to the floor by armed police and arrested after exiting the stage.
Watching Miley go through that awkward transitional period between childhood and adulthood, despite her being 20 years old and therefore about five years too late to begin her teenage rebellion, will likely continue to grab headlines for the foreseeable future. Perhaps next week those headlines will be about Miley smoking behind the bus shelters at school, or drinking a litre-bottle of Frosty Jack's cider around the park before getting sick on her boyfriend's shoes.
