A couple’s night out ended in horror as the husband accidentally crashed his car, killing his wife and mother of his children.
31-year-old Amanda Notebaert of Florida, died after her husband, Matthew Notebaert, crashed into a canal.
Police said that the woman was sitting on her husband's lap and the two were not wearing clothes from the waist down at the time of the accident.
The couple had attended a concert that fateful night, and now the police have confirmed that they were intoxicated when the accident occurred.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that both had drugs and alcohol in their systems when they crashed.
According to a press release, neither of them were wearing seat belts and the two were naked from the waist down. Amanda Notebaert's head hit the dashboard and the windshield, while Matthew Notebaert’s knees were crushed by the bottom of the dashboard.
She died at the scene and he was taken to jail. The husband faces charges of DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide.
The couple has two young children, a 9 year old and a 7 month old.
Notebaert wept openly in court during his appearance as his lawyer told the judge he wanted “to return to their children.”
The children are being cared for by family members.
