EKITI CRISIS: Ayo Fayose And Omirin In Peace Talk?

What seems to be the end of the political war between the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayo Fayose and the embattled Speaker of the State, Rt. Hon. Adewale Omirin came on Monday as they held a closed door meeting at Sun View Hotel, Alagbaka in Akure, the Ondo State Capital.

In the meeting which lasted for several hours, Fayose came with other executive members of his cabinet, while Omirin was accompanied by four other All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers.

However, Governor Fayose and Hon Omirin refused to answer questions from anxious reporters at the end of the meeting, insisting that “we are not going to answer question, but only make statement.”

The Governor asked whether Omirin was willing to answer questions from Journalists, but the speaker also replied that “no sir, we will just make statement.”

Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has admitted that his future may lie away from the Santiago Bernabeu, after the club was dumped out of the Champions League.

FUEL CRISIS: Capital Oil To Release 13 million Litres Of Fuel Tonight

Ifeanyi Ubah, an ally of President Goodluck Jonathan and founder of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) is set to assuage the pains of Nigerians as fuel scarcity bites harder.

Ubah’s Capital Oil and Gas released a statement on Sunday saying it was releasing 13 million litres of petroleum products to ease the fuel scarcity that has almost crippled the country. The company said it will release more during the coming days.

TRANSITION COMMITTEE REPORT: FG Not Cooperating - Buhari

The President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday expressed regret that the federal government did not seem to appreciate his intention of setting up the Transition Committee and the terms of reference given to it. According to him, this is because of the refusal of the government to provide the committee with the needed information to carry out its duty.

Speaking at the Defence House, while receiving the interim report of the APC Transition Committee led by Ahmed Joda, Buhari said he was disappointed that “the incoming government was being misunderstood”.

Jose Mourinho has insisted that Real Madrid and Barcelona can stroll to the Spanish league title by only trying in "four or five matches".

The Chelsea manager won one Liga title and a Copa del Rey in his three years in charge of Madrid, during which time he took the side to the Champions League semi-finals three times in a row.

Mourinho, though, insists it is too easy to win La Liga for the top two teams in Spain, adding that they might not be able to dominate the English Premier League in the way they do their own top flight.

“I won a title with a record in Spain with 100 points and 121 goals, but we only played three or four matches all season.

“I lost a title with 92 points, but again we played only four or five matches in the season.

“In matches in other countries you can win matches when you are resting. In Spain and in Italy, I won lots of matches resting. Games in which you can think about the European game coming up and where you can rest players.

EKITI KIDNAPPINGS: Fayose Should Take The Blame - Falana

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State should take the blame for the rising wave of kidnappings in the state, human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), has said.

The rights activist, who is from the state, was reacting to Fayose’s SOS letter to the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase.

According to a statement he issued on Sunday, Mr. Falana said Governor Fayose must desist from providing official cover for armed gangs to curb kidnapping cases in the state.

He noted that the armed thugs had in connivance with the state government occupied and shut the House of Assembly since November 2014 in a bid to forestall any plans by the All Progressives Congress lawmakers to impeach Mr. Fayose.

XENOPHOBIA: South Africa Repatriates 5,645 Foreigners

South Africa has repatriated 5,645 foreigners since the end of xenophobic attacks in late April, the government said on Sunday.

A Minister in the Presidency, Jeff Radebe, who said this in a statement, added that the foreigners chose to leave South Africa voluntarily.

Malawians made up the bulk of the foreigners, numbering 3,506, followed by Zimbabweans (1,440) Mozambicans (682), while Tanzanians had (17).

Mr. Radebe said the repatriation process started soon after the latest spate of xenophobic violence ended in April.
“The Department of Social Development continues to work closely with other relevant departments, as well as civil society organisations to provide support to displaced foreign nationals,” Mr. Radebe said.
