Embattled Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, on Saturday said his continued stay in office as the number four citizen of the country, cannot be decided by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.
The Speaker said this on the sideline of the All Progressives Congress, APC, North-West Zonal Executive meeting in Kaduna.
According to him, only God and his colleagues in the Green Chambers can decide his fate.
Tambuwal said, “I am here for the first time to attend the zonal meeting of the North-West of APC, my political party.
“As for my fate in the National Assembly and Speaker of the House of Representative, it is in the hands of God and members of the House”, he said.
It was learnt that Tambuwal, who came to the meeting without his security details, was surrounded by party members and associates as has been the practice since the withdrawal of his police escort over a week ago following his defection from the PDP to APC.
Earlier, the APC Vice-National Chairman, North-West, Mr. Inuwa Abdulkadir, had told the gathering that the meeting was to address topical issues bothering the party in particular and the nation in general.
He said “issued that will bring about national harmony and promote national development among others are what we are here to discuss”.
Abdulkadir said APC was waxing stronger by the day, based on the calibre of people, who continue to join the party, among them Tambuwal.
He described the development as a sign that the party was the only political platform that could bring about the change Nigerians desired.
The vice national chairman also advised Nigerians to ensure that they collected their voter cards, cast their votes and ensure that their votes were counted.
