2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers: Ethiopia trains in Nigeria ahead of Saturday's match - The Ethiopian national team, which arrived in Nigeria Thursday night for its return leg, playoff match against Nigeria in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, trained Friday afternoon at the UJ Esuene Stadium in the southern city of Calabar, venue of the match on Saturday.
The training followed that of Nigeria's national team, the Super Eagles, at the same venue earlier Friday to round off preparations for the match.
The Walyas Antelope of Ethiopia face an uphill task after falling 1-2 to the Super Eagles in the first leg of the playoff in Addis Ababa last month.
But Nigeria's coach Stephen Keshi has tempered his optimism, even with his team in the pole position going into the return leg.
“Nothing’s decided yet,' he said in an interview with FIFA.com. 'We’ve not qualified, and I’m not even thinking about it at this point. We got a good result in the first leg, but we must be wary of overconfidence. It’s a critical match, and the players will need to be totally focused.
'We’ll celebrate once we’ve booked our spot, of course – that’s something we’re all hoping for.'
The match is one of the five slated for this weekend in the African qualifying series for the 2014 World Cup, to be staged in Brazil
Others are Senegal/Cote d'Ivoire; Cameroon/Tunisia; Egypt/Ghana and Algeria/Burkina Faso.
The five aggregate winners of the two legs will qualify to represent Africa at the World Cup.
